My Life Requires Mind-Altering Drugs
Think You Know a F*cking Thing About Desperation?
Tomorrow, November 19, 2011, my husband and I will have been married for 21 years. We hate each other more every day. And since we lost our sweet daughter, Jordan, a little over four years ago—September 4, 2007—we don’t even try to pretend any differently. Yet, here I remain, another year of my life… Yeah babe, that’s desperation.
The [really] naked chef. Ooooh, he’s so fine and soooo naked!
This video likely violates every YouTube restriction in the book (including a few unwritten ones), so, if you’re into watching it, you’d better be quick about it.
(NSFW, Naked Chef.)

Kept Promise of the Day: Long story short, Italian chef Gino D’Acampo made a promise to viewers of ITV’s This Morning that, should the show win a National Television Award, he would return to cook sans clothes. Well, they won, and he did.

RESPONSE TO A VAPID, PUERILE, TIRESOME ASS (I could go on and on and on… /grin/)
Dear Anonymous,
I don’t think that I’ll be worrying too much about the opinion of an individual unable to form a proper, grammatical (not to mention coherent) sentence. That doesn’t bode well for a positive expectation of any type of logical, structured, intelligent argument from you.
At the very least, a basic grasp of the English language and the ability to communicate, both verbally and via the written word, is expected from one engaging in any type of debate. And most certainly from one compelled to question the intelligence of another—that being, if not the crux, a vital factor/element of this entire matter.
Normally, I would never presume to ridicule or even question one’s intelligence, grammar, writing ability or ability to articulate an idea, proposal, question, answer, etc. But in this instance, it is appropriate.
One so rude/crude as to insult, without cause, the intelligence of another person/other persons should have no expectation of any type of consideration or the presumption of being afforded the benefit of any normal standard of etiquette.
Maybe in some parallel universe your opinion would matter to me—but in the one we are currently occupying? Not so much. So sorry.
Much Love,
leilei
P.S. Yes, I am taking it upon myself to defend those you so cruelly referred to as “poor, stupid and unimportant.”

Whaaaat? #*&^/@#+=$%!
If you’ve ever noticed that my ‘comments’ link takes you to another blog (almost the same, but not quite), it is because I am apparently too ignorant to get the DISQUS thingy to work properly—installed properly, or whatevah.
If you are a kindly computer genius type and would like to provide a very understandable explanation (if the wall of my DISQUS ignorance can be breached), I would not be opposed. Actually, I would be kinda, sorta, very grateful. Anyhoooo, uhm yeah, okay.

If only it would come true…

Death’s Goodnight

Abandon hope, kill the light
Still, the bitter end is not in sight
Forever asking, “why God, why?”
A constant prayer, “please let me die”
Say goodnight or say goodbye?
A shattered mind accepts all lies
Yet the truth won’t be denied
Constant clouds and blacker skies
Craving death, despising life
Say goodnight or say goodbye?
The warmth of sun, a bird in flight
A father’s flower, a mother’s life
Yet a horrid cruelty bides its time
and hopes the years will hide its crime
Nothing good about that goodbye
I’ll
look
for
mercy
in
death’s
goodnight

Post-industrial capitalism has completely destroyed the conditions required for healthy childhood development
December 26, 2010 | by: AMY GOODMAN @ ALTERNET
“[Due to a] large head [and] small pelvis, we (humans) have to be born prematurely. Otherwise, we would never get born. The head already is the biggest part of the body. Now, the horse can run on the first day of life. Human beings aren’t that developed for two years. That means much of our brain development, that in other animals occurs safely in the uterus, for us has to occur out there in the environment. And which circuits develop and which don’t depend very much on environmental input.” ~Dr. Gabor Mate
From disease to addiction, parenting to attention deficit disorder, Canadian physician and bestselling author Gabor Maté’s work focuses on the centrality of early childhood experiences to the development of the brain, and how those experiences can impact everything from behavioral patterns to physical and mental illness. While the relationship between emotional stress and disease, and mental and physical health more broadly, is often considered controversial within medical orthodoxy, Dr. Maté argues too many doctors seem to have forgotten what was once a commonplace assumption, that emotions are deeply implicated in both the development of illness, addictions and disorders, and in their healing.
